USING PHASE DIAGRAM OF THE «LIQUID – VAPOR» FOR DETERMINING THE QUALITY OF ALCOHOLIC TINCTURES AND EXTRACTS

Possibility of fast determining the content of ethanol in tinctures and extracts at boiling temperature the mixture is demonstrated using the phase state diagram «ethyl alcohol – water» in the coordinates of «composition - boiling temperature» when the content of ethanol in the mixture is not higher than 90 %. For tinctures and extracts manufactured on water-alcohol mixtures, where ethanol content above 90 %, the use of the state diagram «ethyl alcohol – water» for determining the content of ethanol is inexpedient due to the gently sloping part in the diagram near the azeotropic point. Analysis of the content of ethanol in tinctures and extracts of the same manufacturer, but different years of manufacture allows to conclude observance of technology manufacturing preparations and the use qualitative packaging and wrapping materials.
