SOUND IMAGE OF SPACE IN SOUND PRODUCER’S CREATIVE WORK

The article is devoted to the phenomenon of sound image of space and it’s functional manifestation in culture and art. Certain attention is devoted to the question of the connection between the image of space and musical work’s related qualities and to the predictive manipulations with the sound image of space which implies getting expected esthetical impression. In this regard the evolution of expressive capabilities of instruments for the synthesis of artistic sound image of space is considered as well as the connection between objective qualities of sound images of spaces and the criteria for their subjective estimation. The description of author’s conducted experiments on estimation of synthesized sound images of spaces with criteria developed to estimate qualities of real spaces is provided. In the final part of the article the conception of artistic approach to the creation of sound image of space is discussed.
