«THE NEW MUSIC»: THE PROBLEM OF CONCEPTUAL JUSTIFICATION

The analysis of the concept of “new music” in art history studies XX - beginning of XXI century. The analysis revealed two types of “new music” and the relationship to the “new.” The first type is associated with a gradual renewal of musical language and the means of musical expression in a moment of complete and partial exhaustion of old resources. The second type is associated with the rejection of tradition and create a new musical language, with the introduction of new techniques and methods from the previous era. Detected ambiguity concept of “new music”, associated with one hand, with the understanding of a “new” rules and conventions to overcome the spontaneous effect of some hidden force, and on the other hand, the “new” becomes the unexpected, the source of which is the language of art. The article highlights the external manifestations of novelty and shows the internal intentions of a “new”. The formal properties of “new music” are the otherness and originality. Domestic intention of “new music” associated with socio-cultural connotations. The need for a “new” work of art caused by internal intentions and formal properties of art, which are interdependent and mutually reinforcing each other.
