SOME ASPECTS OF LEGAL SETTLEMENT OF POPULATION AND INVESTMENT FLOWS IN OMAN

The article examines the most crucial aspects of the Oman legal system modernization in the field of migration and investments. Both advantages and disadvantages of the state policy amid liberalization in the mentioned above aspects are considered. Our study shows that migration and capital flows regulations law of Oman is in line with the country’s economic development strategies which is aimed at accelerating industrialization and diversification of the economic structure in order to create such an economic mechanism that could function normally after the “oil era”. Liberalization of the economy is still in progress hence the government has resorted to the widespread use of foreign direct investment. For this purpose it is necessary to create a certain investment climate in the country and creditors are granted tax and customs privileges. At the same time the policy of «omanisation» has been carried out, i.e. immigrants have been replaced by the local labor. Social policy provides for free education and health care, increase in the number of jobs for Oman population, allocation of preferential housing construction loans (including the transfer of housing developments to the local needy free of charge).
