INTELLECTUALS IN POLITICS: R. MICHELS AND J. SCHUMPETER

Review of the concept of the two authors, in which emphasis is placed on the role of intellectuals in political life. Intellectuals presented as one of the segments of the elite, with its own characteristics and professional features. Made historical excursus on the question of the origin of this group, stated her main role at different stages in the development of modern society, starting with the New time. Shown stabilizing and destabilizers the influence of intellectuals on the political system. The main scientific results of Schumpeter and Michels in the study of this influence. Argued the factors causing the stabilizing and destabilizing influence of intellectuals on the political system. Listed on the similarity of the positions Michels and Schumpeter in this matter. Lists the basic methodological principles proposed by Michels and Schumpeter, it is proved that they are relevant in our time. The possibility of applying scientific achievements of the classics in modern conditions. The activities of intellectuals in politics is shown in conjunction with other elite groups, as well as in connection with the masses. Specified, what modern scientists help to apply and creatively rethink the achievements of the early and mid twentieth century Schumpeter and Michels.
