This paper considers external and internal factors of ethno-political conflict in the Crimea and the dynamics of their relationship in terms of Ukraine’s aspirations to join the EU. Accents fall on the deformation of the political space of the peninsula, depending on the reaction of formal and informal structures of the region to the revolutionary events in Ukraine. Author compares results of the elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Crimea for the last 12 years. The reasons for actualization of modern problems on the peninsula are identified. The «Orange revolution» is characterized precisely, allowing to speak about its significance in the escalation of conflict in Crimea. Compares the reaction of the official authorities of Crimea and Majlis on developments within the framework of the «Maidan» and the «Orange revolution». Proves the existence of a new geopolitical split: EU-Russia. It is proposed to strengthen its influence on the political and economic life of the peninsula. Conclusions about the regulatory capacity of ethnopolitical conflict in Crimea today will be given. Author continues to track patterns of setting community democracy on a peninsula today.
