«THE SNOW QUEEN» AS ART INTERPRETATION OF NORTH MYYH «THE CHRONICLE URA LINDA»

This article is based on the idea that globalization leads to unification and homogenization or to a surge of selfconsciousness – first of all cultural. But surge of cultural identity can have negative consequences if the content of cultural backgrounds will be distorted. The article presents a research of how almost the same original source – the epos of friezes – suffered a different destiny depending on what form and to what audience it was presented. These are «The Chronicle Ura Linda» and fairy tale «The Snow Queen» representing an art interpretation of the same original myth. During research interpretations of G.H. Andersen’s fairy tale were analyzed, in each of which fairy tales basis coinciding with the content of «The Chronicles» has been distorted.
