This article examines the history of human culture as an alternation of major means of communication defining social perception, developing and enhancing a certain type of culture. Means of communication affect sociocultural environment, define and change world view of society, regulate the principles of perception of space and time, change the laws of understanding of reality imposing them on both an individual and society as a whole. Modern postgutenbergskaya (screen) culture replacing written culture has opened a new channel of communication - audiovisual one. One of the first forms of screen culture was cinema. M. McLuhan, Canadian cultural expert, one of the first noted the role of technical means of communication and foresaw the return of culture to the bosom of syncretism as screen forms blur space-time boundaries which separate humanity and turn the world into a «global village».
