ARCHITECTURAL MOTIVES AS A VISUALISATION OF IMAGE «HEAVEN CASTLE» IN THE PAINTING OF IRKUTSK ARTIST SERGEI ELOYAN

The article is devoted to the relation of the theory of archetypes and Christian imagery in contemporary art. The art of Krasnoyarsk artist S.N. Eloyan is taken as an example. On the example of the features of the artistic embodiment of a village is considered the motive principle of positing an archetypal image of Paradise in the image of the Earth, the rise of the profane to the sacred. The article indicated range of the artist’s works, which reflect the image of the «Heaven Castle» through а village (or a city, a monastery) motif. Further, We have done the analysis of the works of art «Winter Angel», «St. Innoketny Irkutsk», «Cover». As a result, we have determined the most popular archetypal images in his creative work. Among them are the archetype of «Heaven and Earth», which manifests itself in images of Paradise «Heaven Castle» and «Earth City» and the archetypes of «World axis» and Hero stand out. On the example these works of art were identified common features. Among them are: the upper range point of view, the presence of an anthropomorphic image of the patron saint - the Virgin, saints, angels, the image of a winter season and the special meaning white as a symbol of heavenly light. The article identifies the key characteristics of the artist’s work that is relevant to the modern secular religious art in general.
