THE MODERN SYSTEM OF SPATIAL SOUND TRANSMISSION – BINAURAL STEREOPHONY

Among modern systems of spatial sound transmission (such as Dolby Digital 5.1, Ambisonics, WFS) the special place is taken by binaural stereo system. Unlike the above systems transferring physical characteristics of a sound field, the binaural system transfers set of acoustical feelings and allows to recreate the three-dimensional sound space that creates to listener full illusion of his presence at primary field. In this article the main problems of this system are formulated, the principles of a sound recording and sound reproduction taking into account necessary processing of signals are described, some options of application of a binaural stereophony are stated.
