LIVRETS DE MISE EN SCÈNE IN THE FRENCH OPERA IN THE FIRST HALF OF 19TH CENTURY

Zhestkova O.V. 1
1 The Kazan State Conservatory (academy) of name N. G. Zhiganov
The article examines the emergence and development of practice of the detailed description of opera productions in Royal Academy of Music, the main Paris Theater. Creation of Staging Committee and régisseur positions in 1827 contributed to the flourishing of mise en scène upon which the success of the whole work depended. Staging Paris operas in other European theaters, including provincial ones have necessitated the publication of guidelines for staging which were called livrets de mise en scène in France. They were published with the help of several theatrical agencies including Correspondance des spectacles, Bureau dramatique, Agence générale des théâtres among them. Such publisher as É. Perle, J. Solomé, V. Duverger, and his son L.-C. Duverger, L. Palianti made great contribution to publish these invaluable documents of history. If foreign musicologists studied and catalogued a great part of Paris opera livrets as early as at the start of XX century, Russian experts will have yet to research this array of historic sources because it is hard to have an objective and full picture of French opera development in XIX century without their detailed study.
