Cinema and literature are two parts of art, whish closely connected themselves, but both having characteristics and means of expression, because what there are some difficulties of film adapt it. This article discusses and analyzes one of the great problems the film adaptation, which is to choose the way in which authors should follow the film adaptation, choosing priorities for making the film, the maximum transmitting all the advantages of the literary origin. The example of two film adaptations of the famous novel by Choderlos de Laclos «Dangerous Liaisons» – «Valmont» directed by Milos Forman (1989) and «Dangerous Liaisons» directed by Stephen Frears (1988), the author argues that the screen work have to appeal not only to text of a literary work, but also to its spirit.
