TRADITIONAL FOLK ARTS OF OMSK IRTYSH REGION: FORMATION, DEVELOPMENT AND CONTINUITY IN THE MODERN CONTEX

This article contains material about traditional folk crafts in Omsk city and Omsk region: its formation, development and specificity. The author examines in details the content of the «folk art» concept, and also defines its main components which are collective and individual creation. Expanding these concepts, the author refers to the works of well-known theorists and researchers of traditional folk art. The author also provides an overview of migration processes, which have influenced on the formation and development of traditional folk art in the whole West Siberian region, and the basic culture of the indigenous peoples who inhabited the territory. Further the author analyses certain types of folk art and denotes their specifics. It is said that peasant art of Omsk Irtysh traditions were influenced from the outside and in the first half of the XX century it has got a distinct innovative character. In the conclusion, the author pays attention to the fact that folk art is a living art and at the same time the historical memory. The studying of experience and using of folk art examples in the creative practice of modern applied artists and designers is a necessary process, because the best examples were extant from the past. Therefore it is necessary to pay more attention to the problems associated with traditional folk art and to introduce folk crafts creation into the curricula, in the content of educational work about not only in the Western Siberian region, but Omsk Irtysh region particularly.
