В статье впервые рассмотрены вопросы генезиса традиционного орнамента ногайцев Северо-Восточного Кавказа. Для полноты исследования дана краткая историческая информация о ногайцах и причинах их расселения в отдаленном прошлом. Обусловлены характерные сочетания древних исторических орнаментальных традиций с обновляющимися формами элементов, выявивших три основных, последовательно развивавшихся историко-генетических слоя, восходящих к определенным историческим эпохам: докочевнический слой, раннекочевнический слой, позднекочевнический слой. В каждом слое отмечены наиболее свойственные орнаментальные мотивы и композиции. Авторами выделены и менее значительные слои позднего происхождения, относящиеся к периоду перехода ногайцев к оседлости. Определены связи ногайской орнаментальной системы с орнаментальной культурой многих народов Сибири, Казахстана, Передней и Средней Азии, Северного Кавказа, Поволжья, Северного Причерноморья.

The article deals with the problem of the genesis of traditional ornament of the Nogais of the Northeast Caucasus. To give a complete picture, the authors present a brief historical overview of the Nogais and the reasons for their resettlement in the distant past. They reveal the specific combinations of ancient historic ornamental traditions with renovating forms of elements and identify three major, consistently developing historical and genetic layers, dating back to particular historical epochs: pre-nomadic layer, early nomadic layer and late nomadic layer. The most peculiar ornamental motifs and compositions are distinguished for each layer. The authors also identify minor layers, which date back to the period of sedentarization of the Nogais. The Nogai ornamental system is correlated with the ornamental cultures of many peoples of Siberia, Kazakhstan, Western and Central Asia, the North Caucasus, the Volga region, and the Black Sea region.
